The choice of the evening was Formula De. We setup the Portland, Oregon track with 2 cars per player. At first, we thought we play a full 3 lap race but after playing for an hour, we decided that getting though 2 laps before midnight would be a better idea. We rolled for starting positions: Heather-1, Kieron-1, Troy-1, Ryan-1, JimG-1, JimG-2, Ryan-2, Troy-2, Kieron-2, Heather-2. The Portland track has a short straight away followed by a nasty 3 stop curve. During the first lap all of our cars bunched up into this first curve. There were a couple of collisions leaving debris on the track. After the initial curve, we started to spread out. Ryan picked up speed on the back stretch and was in the lead going into the last curve. Ryan-1 made it through the last curve first and was the first across the start/finish line for the first lap. JimG-1 and JimG-2 were second around the last curve, using all tires and pitting both cars to restore them. The first car out of the race was Troy-1 in the last curve of the first lap. Heather also lost a car (Heather-1) in the same curve. Troy pulled his remaining car into the pit for a new set of tires. He wasn't able to quick pit so he use both of his wrenches to fix other parts of his car.

Lap 1 Positions: Ryan-1, Ryan-2, JimG-2, JimG-1, Heather-2, Kieron-1, Troy-2, Kieron-2, Troy-1 (out-Lap 1, Turn 6), Heather-1 (out-Lap 1, Turn 6)

During the second lap, Jim and Ryan battled neck and neck through the first and second curves. Ryan had to downshift hard with both cars and Jim was able to push his cars through the next couple of curves and was set up well for the backstretch in 6th gear for both cars. While Jim was in the middle of the backstretch, several max rolls were made by cars in 5th and 6th gear. After several engine checks, both of Jim cars were taken out of the race less than a third of a lap from the finish line. This opened the race up for a showdown between Ryan and Heather. Heather took the lead through the last curve but Ryan was able to draft his car around and rolled first on the next turn, crossing the finish line to win his first game of Formula De against four other experience players.

Lap 2 Finish: Ryan-1, Heather-2, Ryan-2??, Kieron-1??, Troy-2??, Kieron-2??, JimG-2 (out-Lap 2, Backstretch), JimG-1 (out-Lap 2, Backstretch), Troy-1 (out-Lap 1, Turn 6), Heather-1 (out-Lap 1, Turn 6)

Manuever around the debris!

(Note Heather's hand...ever involved)
